Circling the valley of the Melamchi khola , just75 km north of Kathmandu , the area is surprisingly peaceful and calm. The landscape in classic Himalayan foothills, with plenty of dramatic rises and plummeting descents, but there are no overbooked fights to worry about. In the end of the trek, you can just hop on the bus or jump into a taxi.

Despite the proximity of Kathmandu, the trails are blissfully quiet, particularly compared to the more famous trekking routes around Everest and Annapurna. In just one weeks , you can loop around from Sundarijal to Thimbu or kiul , passing mountains views points , alpine meadows and Buddhist villages it’s a good taster treks if you are unsure about trekking higher up in the Himalayan.

Alternatively, you can trek onto the end of the Langtang or Gosainkund treks, crossing Helambu, via the high altitude passes at Laurebina la (4610m)or Ganja La (5106m) . However, both routes involve steep gains in altitude, particularly if you start from. AMS is a serious risk and the passes are snow covered and dangerous in winter.
