Overview

The Lower Dolpo trek, an isolated area of western Nepal offers you unique trek experience and encounter with the remote people and their unique culture. The main attraction of Lower Dolpo Trek is Shey-Phoksundo Lake. You can witness snowy mountains, ancient and isolated villages, with some of the rich wildlife. Most of the cultural and traditional background is linked with Tibet. Trekking in this area will give you introduction to high and isolated Himalayan valleys of Nepal, similar to Tibetan highlands. The Lower Dolpo are by and large followers of Bon, a religion whose causes originate before Buddhism yet whose modern form is authoritatively acknowledged as a fifth school of Tibetan Buddhism. The remote area has saved its Tibetan culture in moderately unadulterated shape, making it appealing to Westerners. In spite of its isolated area of Lower Dolpo and most of the remote and travel restriction areas, Lower Dolpo is still popular trekking destination for traveler all around the world.

Lower Dolpo Trekking starts from the flight from Nepalgunj to jumla and the astounding climbing starts. In the first place we travel to Jhupal, west Dhaulagiri, Trekking north we enter Phoksundo National park, crossing the khang La 17320ft/5279m, to achieve the extremely isolated community of Shey Gompa. Shey Gompa was established in the eleventh century and little has changed from the point forward. The trek experiences out of date towns and through high and remote snow-capped zone and passing wonderful Shey Phoksundo Lake. Shey Phoksundo National Park incorporates diverse sorts of the creature, for example, blue sheep, Himalayan wild bear, panthers, wolves, select snow panther, Mountain Goat, Jackal and so on. This is the place that is known for the Oscar-nominated film Caravan distinction, a culture close-by Tibet that has survived its originality for a considerable length of time.

Itenarary

Day 1: Arriving at Kathmandu


After you arrive at Kathmandu airport, we will meet you there and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be informed about your activities. Overnight at Kathmandu at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation


Next morning, after breakfast you will leave for an entire day touring around Kathmandu valley. You can visit major UNESCO World Heritage Sites; holy Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, exceptionally old and basically enrolled in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Boudhnath Stupa and Royal Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight at the same hotel.

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj


In this day, after having breakfast, we will take 1-hour fly on any domestic carrier to Nepalgunj with good view of Himalaya to the north. Nepalgunj, a town in in the western Terai, is near the Indian border and the Bardia National Park. It is important transfer center point for western, mid-western and far-western areas of Nepal. Overnight at Nepalgunja.

Day 4: Fly from Nepalgunj to Jhupal (Dolpo) and trek to Dunai


Today, we take a 35 minutes flight to Jhupal. Jhupal is beautiful town located at Himalayan foothills with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaked to its north. Here we meet our trekking guide and staff and begin to trek. We trek by riverside and pass Roop Ghar with the water process lastly achieve the town of Dunia (2150m). A village that has school, Police check post and some administration workplaces. We stay overnight in Dunai.

Day 5: Dunai to Tarakot


After the breakfast we head towards the upstream trail of Bheri river. A plesant trek passes little towns with religious community, mani stones and developing fields. Tarakot is a little settlement that settles high above Thuli Bheri River, was at one time a renowned exchanging point as it was the capital of indipendent kingdom Tichorung. The vast majority of the locals belongs to Magar tribe and has Tibetan Buddhism as their religion.  First part of today trek is very enjoyable as we trek along the leveled trail occupied by beautiful landscapes.

Day 6: Tarakot to Laini Odar


As we continue our trek, we climb along the trail that lies on the southern bank of Bheri River. An hour-long trek brings us to the open valley made by Bahrbung Khola. Passing stream with great sight of Himalaya including Putha Huinchuli and Churen Himal. Laini Odar is a magnificent campground with a wonderful waterfall close-by.

Day 7: Laini Odar to Nawarpani


After having morning breakfast, we will head further trail From Laini Odar, we cross through the deep George with frightening cliffs. After some time, the trail begins to become relatively open. We now trek on the simple trail cleared with wooden boards and level stones that leads us to Chhyughar 3440m.

Day 8: Nawarpani to Dho Tarap


Trekking towards Tarap Khola leads us to Ghyamghar and langa. Dho Tarap is a beautiful settlement with a monastery that shows the genuine beauty of Dolpo. This famous place of Dolpo settles high over a wide valley and was a well-known exchanging point to the dealers of Tibet and Mustang in the ancient days.

Day 9: Rest Day at Dho Tarap acclimatization


Trekking almost a week is very frustrating for everyone. So, we are having a rest day at Dho Tarap. The rest day doesn’t mean to remain in tents and resting. There are a lot of spots to see around Dho Tarap. Dho Tarap is a good place with religious communities. Dho Tarap has few remarkable destinations that are valuable investigating around. The region around Dho Tarap has numerous other essential religious communities which include many famous and ancient Monasteries. So, ask your guide to help you to explore around Dho Tarap.

Day 10: Trek to Numa La Base Camp


As we start our trek along with some delicate uphill trail from Dho Tarap. After an hour long, uphill climb conveys us to crystal Mountain School and Health post and traditional Tokyu village (4209m). With fascinating views of shering Gompa which is the house for Buddhist Monks.  Tokyu is really conventional looking town with ancient houses.

Day 11: Cross Numa La pass


A difficult day to trek, following 4 hours of steep climbing trek with magnificent views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Norbung Kang and Churen Himal. We touch base to the highest point of Numa La Pass 5310m. As we go down the Numa La Pass, the trail is generally less difficult following the Gyambo Khola.

Day 12: Cross Baga La pass


As the trek starts today a vertical uphill climb to Gaga La Pass. We will be able to witness the scared chortens. A requesting trek goes vertical tough move to Gaga La pass, it offers awesome perspective of Norbung Lang Peak and the whole Phoksundo Lake and afterward trek slide down to the delightful Temche(4000m).

Day 13: Dajok Tang to Ringmo


Today trek down from Temche to Yak Kharka, and climbs again towards Ringmo. The trail to Rigmo has lavish vegetation of pines, junipers and cypress with stunning waterfall. The trail at last extends to Ringmo, a popular settlement in the locale. Last 30 minutes downhill trek from Ringmo blessed us to the stunningly wonderful lake, Phoksundo.

Day 14: Hike to Phoksundo Lake


Today we look into the zone around the Ringmo great Phoksundo Lake and its monasteries. Ringmo town, a typical Tibetian town, is a grand view from Phoksundo Lake. The Gompa settling an edge top above Phoksundo Lake was worked around 900 years ago. Exploring this socially rich Bon Monastery is entrancing background. There are numbers of Gompas and religious locales at the site and we invest our energy going to some of these.

Day 15: Phoksundo Lake to Shyanta


As we begin trek today, we climb along the steep uphill trek. After an hour trek from Phoksundo Lake, we reach our next destination Shyanta. The trail is enjoyable with wonderful rocky landscapes to the check post of Shey-Phoksundo National Park. 

Day 16: Shyanta to Jhupal


The trail to Jhupal is through Kalagaonda with air landscapes and delightful fields of grain and wheat encompassed by solid trees that incorporate walnut, peach and apricot. Juphal, a huge town with beautiful marketplace.

Day 17: Fly from Nepalgunj, to Kathmandu


The trail to Jhupal is through Kalagaonda with air landscapes and delightful fields of grain and wheat encompassed by solid trees that incorporate walnut, peach and apricot. Juphal, a huge town with beautiful marketplace.

Day 18: Final departure

Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries for 30 days and 90 days can be obtained by paying USD 40 and 100 respectively. Please bring 2 copies of passport size photos.)
